The John Prine mural lived around back of ShopBar, which was still pouring drinks when this tag was made. ShopBar opened in 2019 in an old garage on Barret Avenue, then closed for good in 2025. The building survived, with a new deli and retail concept announced for the space in 2026. Prine himself was born in Illinois, but his parents were from Paradise, Kentucky, and he called himself “pure Kentuckian.” His Muhlenberg County summers gave us “Paradise.”
